Teachers are often the unsung heroes in our children's daily lives. Teacher Appreciation Week reminds us to show them the appreciation and gratitude they deserve. It doesn't have to be expensive or elaborate... simple ideas are great too.

Here are five easy ways to let your children's teachers know how appreciated they really are.

Thank You Notes
Help your child with a handwritten note for their teacher(s). If needed, remind your child of situations or events they've told you about involving their teacher to help them get started. Reminders of the impact they have on their students can brighten their day.

Artwork
Ask your child to draw a picture, make a gift, or do a craft to gift their teacher(s). When my children were younger, they loved helping me make these adorable (and inexpensive) vases for their teachers and picking out flowers to fill them with.

Offer Support
This important gesture doesn't cost any money - just your time and energy and is so important, especially in the younger grades. I've helped in the classroom, helped with schoolwide events, even graded papers or prepped activities at home for teachers. The gift of time is very appreciated.

Tell Them
Next time you see your child's teacher make it a point to thank them and offer words of enocouragement to let them how much you (and your child) appreciate them. Simple words can easily brighten someone's day.

Collaborate with Other Families
Reach out to other parents in your child's class and work together on a group gift or project. With a class of 30 kids, even $5 per child produces a nice amount for a gift card. Add a card from each child and it's a special gift for a special teacher.

Showing teachers how much they are appreciated not only acknowledges their hard work and dedication, but also reinforces the important work and energy they put into teaching on a daily basis. Involving your children in it helps teach them to show their appreciation of others as well.
