Hoping all of our moms were celebrated this past Mother's Day weekend! I had a great weekend away with the family and cherish those times tremendously!

Sunday Crepes


Perfect Breakfast for Mom!

I don't know how it started but my tradition is to make crepes on Sunday. The recipe below is very forgiving-- you can leave stuff out or change ingredients and it still works. 


Ingredients:
  • 1-1/2 cups whole milk (I rarely have whole milk and have used almond milk, skim milk and combinations of whatever is in the house)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 3 Tablespoons sugar (I've used Stevia, only used 2 Tablespoons, again...forgiving)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Scant 5 Tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ...

Homemade Musical Instruments


Make your own rain stick and tambourine!

Materials for Both Instruments:
  • Toilet paper roll for rain stick
  • 2 paper plates for tambourine
  • Construction paper
  • Tape (wide, packaging tape is easiest)
  • Beans or rice
  • Yarn, string, or ribbon
  • Decorative materials (foam shapes, scrap paper, markers, etc.)
Rain Stick Instructions:
  1. Fill the paper towel roll or toilet paper roll with some rice.
  2. Wrap 1 piece of construction paper around toilet paper roll, making sure both ends are well covered.
  3. Place tape over any seams.
  4. Decorate!
Tambourine Instructions:
  1. Put rice on one plate.
  2. Place the second plate over the first ...

Thursday, May 16 - Tail Wagging Tails: Read to a Therapy Dog at Centerville Library!

A volunteer from the Ohlone Humane Society will be here with a trained therapy dog for children to read to. This program is free, but does require a ticket to attend. Tickets will be available at the Info Desk starting at 3pm. Each 15 minute reading time will be shared between two kids. The following are the scheduled reading times: 3:30, 3:45, 4:00 and 4:15.

A fun introduction to books, songs and games for our youngest ones. The first half hour is a parent/child participation lap program and the second half hour is free play when adults can visit, play and observe!
