Sunscreen Tips and Facts!

We all know how important sunscreen is, but thought I’d share a few tips and facts with you all!

While sunscreen is important to use year round, we tend to spend a lot more time outdoors in the sunshine during the summertime, so be prepared!

Create a morning routine for yourself AND your kids that includes a first coat of sunscreen. For my kids, I use a non-oily moisturizer with a 30 SPF on them after they brush their teeth each morning. Then before they go outside, I apply ...

The Story of Miss Grace

A mom spreading awareness about Melanoma/Skin Cancer

May is melanoma/skin cancer awareness month. For us, we are aware of it on a daily basis.

I took Grace (our youngest of 3 kids) to see her doctor about a bump on her arm. Everyone kept telling us it was nothing more than a wart. I'm no doctor, but it was really bothering me and I had never seen a wart grow like this was. It was obviously bothersome to her because she was picking at it and this caused it to bleed.
The nurse practitioner agreed ...

Playground Safety!

Summer is nearly upon us and that means a lot more of the kids and a lot less for them to do! Playgrounds are a go-to place for moms and kids alike so it's important to remember "safety first" when it comes to playing at your local playground. Moms are safety experts when it comes to their kids yet it's easy to accidentally become complacent and overlook the little things when in familiar surroundings like a playground. Take this refresher course and be sure your kids are extra ...

Boo Boo Bag

Be ready for summer!

Our little one is known for lots of super fun things and some not so fun... knee scrapes! Oh yeah, if there is a sidewalk to be run down you will catch our 4 year old running at full speed. After several incidents in which we grabbed anything we could find to wipe the area clean we realized we needed a First Aid Kit in the car... then we realized (after an incident involving a piece of glass at the local lake and her tiny foot) we needed even more ...

Crazy Caterpillars!

Very easy craft to do with the kids!

What you’ll need:

  • Multi-colored paper
  • A circle to trace (Tupperware bowl, plastic cup, cardboard circle, etc.)
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Crayons/markers
  • 2 Googly eyes
  • 2 Feathers or pipe cleaners
  • BIG sheet of paper (I used finger-paint paper simply because it was BIG)

What you’ll do:

Help your child trace multiple circles out of different colors of paper. Cut them out. For my younger kids, I cut the circles out for them ahead of time.

Arrange the circles to make a long caterpillar. We made ours “crazy” by having ...

Chicken Pesto Pasta Salad

Perfect for this warmer weather!

Summer and pasta salad go hand-in-hand in this house. I LOVE having the ease of having a chilled pasta salad waiting for us in the fridge when we get home from the pool or zoo or whatever we have done that day. Add the benefit that there is basically no clean up after it's prepared and I can’t think of a better quick meal! We eat so much pasta salad, however, that I have had to come up with variations so that we don’t get bored with ...

It's Bug Season!!

According to the National Pest Management Association, an unseasonably warm winter is expected to bring bugs and pests out of hibernation early this year, meaning we’re in store for prolonged mosquito season. Rather than turning to toxic bug sprays to fight against mosquito-borne viruses like West Nile and Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE), Mom’s everywhere can count on PIC® to help protect their families from dangerous mosquito bites with two unique products that provide maximum protection with all-natural ingredients that don’t need to be applied to skin.
